Give yourself an unstructured day to remember how you fell in love with writing

We often forget how we first fell in love with writing, and it was for the fun of it, for the freedom of saying whatever you wanted to say, without the fear of being told to shut up.

Because you’re worth it, and because it’ll reignite your imagination, your drive, and your ambition, pick a day and clear it of all commitments, ALL OF THEM, then just write.

Write anything and everything, or just stare at blank paper. Allow yourself to just be, and pretend like it’s your first time writing. What would you write then?

What did you write when you wrote for the first time? What was it about? Why did you write about it? What moved you?

Can you make this happen at least once a year? How about once a month? Once a week?

It could be the best birthday present for yourself. Imagine telling everyone that this year for your birthday you want a day alone, from morning till night, to write. Even if at first your friends and family will look puzzled, I bet they’d be happy to help you create it.

What better present could you give yourself if not that?
