Okay, by now I have screamed about this on every Internet corner, but I have to expand my scream here, naturally. I have setup my Patreon page pretty quickly, made a video and everything and sort of forgot about it, burying my head in writing. I mean, I didn't forget about it completely, I post my daily writing there as I complete it, for patrons only to see. I don't even know how many of you are reading those, but I will keep faithfully posting them there as that is the perk you get for supporting me by donating $1 or more per month.
My goal is to get to $2K a month to meet my monthly budget, and to $3K or more to start paying all those wonderful people who are making my books happen at the moment. My editor Sarah Grace Liu, my formatter Stuart Whitmore, my daughter and cover artist Anna Milioutina. Plus, I'll be able to put my books into bookstores via Ingram (the process is slow at the moment because I have to pay for every step, like ordering proof copies, etc.) like you have asked me to. I will be able to travel more, going to conventions and book fairs and such.
But the best part of it is...
I GET TO WRITE MORE.
FOR YOU.
I have to split my time at the moment. When I'm done writing a draft, I take a break and either do ghostwriting or something else that brings me money to supplement my income. I can ditch all that and focus solely on books and short stories and any other written things that will happen to be born out of my brain.
I have 12 novels outlined, and I can write these faster. My brain produces so much content, at times it's painful holding it back. It's like I opened a faucet three years ago and out came pouring all this stuff and it won't stop.
HOW DOES THIS PATREON THING WORK?
It's very simple. You pledge any amount you want, say, $1, and your card will be charged $1 every month. You can cancel at any time. You can change the amount at any time. Say, you pledged $15 and your money is tight, drop it to $5. Or, you pledged $5 but you love my writing so much (naturally), you want to give me more. Raise it to $20. Or $100. Or say you inherited lots of money from your distant relatives in New Zealand because they all died at once, and, in an outburst of pure passion for me, you have decided to up it to $1000 and feel like a hero. You can do it. I will accept it all gladly.
So. Thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting me! This means the world to me. You are making it happen. Together we will do it. And now I will get back to my writing.
Onward.
